ABERDEEN, S.D. -- The dynasty lives on for White River, while the heartbreak continues for Viborg/Hurley.
White River won their second consecutive Class B State Championship (both over Viborg/Hurley) and fourth title in the last six years on Saturday night, defeating the Cougars 63-51.
After Viborg/Hurley grabbed an early four point lead, the Tigers exploded, taking an 18-8 lead after one quarter and a 35-19 lead at the break. Joe Cameron led the Tigers with 18 points. Wyatt Krogman had 16, and Tavis Burbank and Nic Waln each added 10 points.
This was Viborg/Hurley's third consecutive loss in a state title game. The Cougars lost the last two to White River and were defeated in the Class A title game two years ago by St. Thomas More. Tyler Gerdes led the Cougars with 15 points and Trevor Jacobsen scored 14.
