Zach Hanson.. a giant among South Dakota high school players.. is a force down low.
Busy.. doing what everyone would expect a big man to do.
Zach Hanson says: "I would say somebody that mainly plays in the block and inside.. but can also play outside a little bit and is athletic enough to get up nd down the court too."
And that's what makes hanson such a threat.
Terry Becker, Pierre coach says: "We've had to move him around a little bit and be creative to get him touches. If we just play him on the low block exclusively then he gets doubled and triple-teamed all the time.. I mean you've got to get your best player touches."
Zach says:"It's nice to step out and people won't guard you as tight because people don't think you're going to shoot it.. But when you can knock a few down that always feels good."
Expectations coming into Hanson's senior season have been high and he's lived up to them. Then next year a new challenge.. D 1 ball for Creighton.
Zach says:"I think they're 6th in the nation in attendance and Omaha is just crazy about basketball and that was just really attractive."
And his coach feels no matter we he goes.. Zach Hanson will fit in just fine.
Terry Becker says:"He's a really likeable kid and one of those kids that kids really kind of gravitate too.. I mean he's got that kind of perosnality."
And now with a state championship under his belt, Zach Hanson finishes his South Dakota High School career on top.
