The SDSU men’s basketball team learned Sunday night they'll be traveling to Detroit to take on the Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA tournament.
On Monday night, it was the women's turn to find out who'll they'll be facing in the big dance.
Cheers, chanting and clapping, the sounds of excitement filled Cubby's Sports Bar & Grill in Brookings when SDSU's women's basketball team found out South Carolina is their dancing partner in the NCAA tournament.
Keith Jensen, a Brookings lifer, is all about the Jacks and is known as the unofficial leader of the special chant that fills the stands at the games.
"1,2,3,4 tell the people who we're for, SDSU,” said Jensen.
"Go Jacks," said Ainsley Powers.
"Go Jacks," said Brody Powers.
For Ainsley and Brody Powers, these young fans have simple reasons for supporting the blue and yellow.
"I live in Brookings," said Brody.
These little fans couldn't resist hanging with the players after the selection, even getting their t-shirts autographed.
"So I can show off to my friends and make them jealous," said Brody.
The Powers sibling’s mom is a fan too.
"Lets go Rabbits," said Cami.
Cami Powers said it's important to have her kids at a young age appreciate what the athletes do for their community, whether that's making appearances at community events, giving her kids autographs, or running the ball on the court.
"The atmosphere is something that can't be beat and lets face it in Brookings we don't have a lot so it's all about the Jackrabbits," said Cami.
For Jensen, he's anticipating the road trip ahead to support the Jacks in Boulder Colorado.
"Close enough to a lot of our fans to make it. It's not an easy drive, but it's not a hard drive," said Jensen.
The women will face South Carolina in Boulder, Colorado on Saturday.
