Shape Places Hopes To Rezone Sioux Falls

Bookmark and Share

On Tuesday night, the Sioux Falls City Council will approve or deny a proposed city ordinance that would change zoning districts throughout the entire city.

The proposal is called Shape Places and if approved, it would replace the current ordinance, which has not been updated since 1983.

For the past four years, the city planning department has looked into rezoning the city, urging changes to areas such as residential and commercial districts.

The goal is to help simplify the naming system for people in Sioux Falls.

"Shape Sioux Falls looks at the entire city, Shape Place looks at, show me the land, show me the place and how you do this piece of ground," said Jeff Schmitt, chief zoning and planning officer.

On Tuesday night at 10, KDLT’s Ashley Kringen will have the details on the City Council's decision on whether to approve Shape Places.
