McCaffrey Named To Daktronics All-America 3rd Team

McCaffrey, the Vikings’ all-time scoring leader with 1,964 points, was named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team for the second time in his career this season. He also earned Daktronics All-Central Region honors for the second time in his career, he was a second team member as a sophomore. McCaffrey was named the NSIC’s Freshman of the Year in 2009-10 while also being named to the All-NSIC second.
McCaffrey was recently accepted an invitation to compete in the 2013 Reese’s Division II College All-Star game on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.
McCaffrey capped off a stellar collegiate career in 2012-13 by leading the Vikings with 21.3 points and 4.8 assists per game. He also led the team in field goals made (213), field goals attempted (456), 3-point field goals made (54), 3-point field goals attempted (152), free throws made (179), steals (30) and minutes played (34.5 minutes per game).
He led the Vikings in scoring in 28 of 31 games this season and scored 20 or more points in a game 18 times this season, including 30, 36 and his career-high 40 points against the University of Mary on Jan. 18.
McCaffrey is the fourth All-America honoree in the 91-year history of the Augustana men’s basketball program, the last being Cody Schilling, who earned All-America honorable mention honors, last season.
Augustana made its 11th appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2012-13 and finished the season 22-9. The Vikings finished third in the NSIC with a 15-7 mark in the league.
