Names Released In McCook County Fatal Accident

A Bridgewater, South Dakota man died in a two-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 42 about 10 miles east of the junction with U.S. Highway 81 on Thursday.
Jeffrey Ryan Robocker, 38, was traveling eastbound on Highway 42 in a 2008 KIA Sedona and nearing the intersection with 447th Avenue. A northbound 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by Joshua Dean Steffensen, 35, of Hetland, South Dakota, stopped at a stop sign and then pulled onto the highway to turn west. Robocker’s vehicle struck the trailer of the semi-truck.
Robocker was not wearing a seat belt. He was dead at the scene. Steffensen was wearing a seat belt. He was not injured.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. McCook County Sheriff’s Office and McCook County Emergency Management assisted.
