An incident at a Sioux Falls day care has the South Dakota Department of Social Services investigating.
Good Shepard Lutheran Early Childhood Center sent a letter to parents yesterday notifying them of the incident. In the letter, parents are told that an alleged incident was reported to the school on Tuesday and was immediately reported to sthe South Dakota Department of Social Services.
Administration at Good Shepard Lutheran Early Childhood Center on the corner of Southeastern Avenue and 57th Street said that the Department of Social Services is currently reviewing the incident report. The day care said they are cooperating and being fully forthcoming with state officials.
The administration declined to appear on camera, but did issue a media release similar to the letter sent to parents, stating they are awaiting the Department of Social Services review of the report.
KDLT spoke with parents of children that attended the school and they said they feel the school is handling the situation the right way, but some are wary about what exactly happened and want answers.
The Department of Social Services said that if parents of any of the children at the day care center are concerned, they may contact the Division of Child Care Services to check on the status of the day care facility’s licensure.
