Low Turnout For NSU Smoking Ban Vote

Bookmark and Share

Students at Northern State University have voted in favor of banning smoking on the Aberdeen campus, though only 10 percent of students voted.

The university says the vote late last week was 247 in favor and 116 opposed. More than 3,600 students are enrolled at the university, and President Jim Smith says there was "not a groundswell of reaction from the student body on this issue."

Faculty and staff will now be asked to weigh in on the proposal.
