SFSD Could See Technology Upgrade

Every single student in the Sioux Falls School District could be getting his or her own iPad or Chromebooks soon.
This follows the School Board's decision to approve a program called one-o-one student technology initiative into the 2014 budget.
If approved, the iPads and Chromebooks would be phased in over a two-year period benefiting nearly 23,000 students.
Grades K-2 would receive iPads and grades 3-12th would receive Chromebooks.
"A lot of times students have to come to school and then they have to power down because we don't have the technology resources available. We're hoping that this is now a time that they don't have to power down," said Bob Jensen, Director of Assessments Technology and Information Services.
The school board will talk more about the proposal and whether it fits into the budget this April.
A final decision will be made in July.
