A South Dakota man charged in federal court with being a felon and drug user in possession of a firearm wants a judge to forbid prosecutors from mentioning state court allegations of kidnapping and assault.
Thirty-six-year-old Clint Brown, of Presho, is accused in state court of being under the influence of drugs when he kidnapped his 10-year-old daughter last August and abused her. He's also accused of killing her dog in front of her on her birthday.
Brown has pleaded not guilty in the related federal case and is scheduled for trial in April. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. His state case is on hold while the federal case proceeds.
