The Junior Sioux Wheelers, a youth wheelchair basketball team, has been invited to compete for a national championship in Louisville, Kentucky.
One of their players and coaches visited the station Friday to tell us about their upcoming journey. The team last made the national tournament in 1999 when they finished 11th. Funding the trip has become an issue and the team is looking for the community’s help to make their dreams come true.
“It's a great opportunity for the kids to get down there and compete against kids with the same disabilities. This is their tournament, in their format and it's just a really great event for these guys,” said Dick Neu of the Junior Sioux Wheelers.
If you would like to help you can contact Dick at 351-1797.
The tournament starts the 17th of April.
