2 Drug Busts In 3 Weeks In Alcester

Bookmark and Share

Alcester is home to about 800 people. But, that doesn't seem to stop drug manufacturing in the small town.

Most recently, a home on Dakota Street was searched on Thursday evening. Police believe they found the ingredients to a drug lab.

“I got a tip to possible drug activity in town. A search warrant was drawn up and served on a local residence,” said Police Chief James Morey.

A man linked to the residence was arrested the next day after an unrelated traffic stop.

While larger cities like Sioux Falls have seen its fair share of drug busts, the Alcester Police Chief feels no matter what the size of the city, drugs have no place in them.

“It doesn't matter where the community is, Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Alcester, Richland. It doesn't matter. It's alarming to any community to realize that those types of things are happening in our society today,” said Morey.

With two recent drug busts in Alcester, police say they'll continue to keep their eyes open for suspicious activity in the future.

“The only thing that we can do is try to be diligent on the streets and pay attention to what we see,” said Morey.
