It's a problem that's existed on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for years, substandard housing options and overcrowding of Oglala Sioux Housing Authority homes.
Friday, a collection of Native American organizations announced plans to trailer an example of one of these homes to Washington D.C in hopes of showing Congress just how big of a problem it is.
The effort is being called the 'Trail of Hope' for Indian housing, and organizers hope by parking the substandard house near the U.S Capitol Building it will hammer home the many issues reservation residents face while trying to put a roof over their heads.
The group says the example home will arrive in Washington D.C. on the evening of April 16th and remain on display for 24 hours.
