BROOKINGS, S.D. — Adam Bray and J.D. Moore combined on a four-hit shutout, leading South Dakota State to a 3-0 win over North Dakota in the finale of their four-game Summit League baseball series Sunday afternoon at Erv Huether Field.

In earning a split of the series, the Jackrabbits improved o 14-11 overall, 2-2 in league play. NDSU dropped to 14-13 overall and 2-2 in The Summit League.

The game was scoreless until the seventh inning, when the Jackrabbits broke through with a pair of runs. Eric Danforth started the rally with a base hit, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Al Robbins and scored on Paul Jacobson’s single down the left-field line. Jacobson later moved to second on an errant pickoff throw and stole third before scoring on Scott Splett’s two-out single to right.

Splett provided some heroics on the defensive end in the top of the sixth as he threw out Tim Colwell at home trying to score from second base on a hit by Blake Turbak.

The Jackrabbits added a run in the eighth inning as Daniel Marra led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Reid Clary’s double down the left-field line.

Bray worked the first seven innings and tied a career high with seven strikeouts. The sophomore right-hander allowed four hits and walked two in improving to 3-1 on the season.

Moore did not give up a hit and struck out one over two innings as he notched his sixth save of the season.

NDSU starter Trevor Jaunich fanned six batters, walked three and gave up five hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Splett and Clary each tallied two of the Jackrabbits’ eight hits.

SDSU is scheduled to host North Dakota at 3 p.m. Tuesday in non-conference action at Erv Huether Field.
