Astronaut Mark Kelly says he doesn't think allowing university students to be armed will cut down on gun violence.
Kelly spoke to members of the media ahead of an appearance Wednesday evening at the University of South Dakota. His speech will focus on his time in the Navy, being an astronaut, his wife Gabrielle Gifford's brain injury and his advocacy for responsible gun ownership.
Kelly says because he is a parent with kids in school, he doesn't think arming students is a good idea.
But he adds that school security is a big issue and something that needs to be addressed.
