Some Roads In SD Remain Closed

Bookmark and Share

I-90 between Mitchell and Chamberlain will remain closed overnight Wednesday.

Weather conditions did not improve enough for plows to open the interstate for safe travel.

There is a 14 mile construction zone that would force cars into head to head traffic.

State officials feel it’s just too dangerous to allow traffic on the road with more snow on the way.

Also Highway 42 from the north junction of Highway 11 through Rowena will remain closed Wednesday night and possibly into Friday. The two-mile segment of highway will be reopened once utility crews remove fallen power lines and poles from the roadway.

Colonel Craig Price with the highway patrol says conditions are less than ideal for traveling, and recommends people postpone travel until conditions improve.
