3,000 Sioux Falls School District employees will be seeing raises this summer.
After negotiations between the school board and employee groups, it has been decided that teachers will be receiving five year contracts with more than an 8.5% increase in salary.
Other administration employees will also see a just over a 4.8% increase in pay.
The raises show more investment into education, following former cuts and the recession.
School Board President Douglas C. Morrison said the negotiation process was a smooth one.
“I’m really proud of the fact that both sides went in and really had a professional relationship and had very few stumbling points at the end of the day," said Morrison.
The money comes from the district's fund balance and will invest nearly $10 Million into these new contracts.
