South Dakota Cattle On Feed Down 10 Percent

South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals had 230,000 cattle on feed on April 1, down 10 percent from last year.
The Agriculture Department says in its latest report that placements in feedlots during March totaled 32,000 head, down 29 percent from 2012.
Marketings of fed cattle during the month totaled 31,000 head, down 35 percent from last year. The number marks the lowest March marketings since 1998.
