The post office in the northeastern South Dakota town of Ipswich has been temporarily closed because of a leaky roof.
U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman Karen Fredrickson says that operations were suspended because the leaking roof was a safety hazard for both customers and employees.
An inspection crew from Denver will be determining the extent of the roof damage and also whether there is any mold in the building. Mail services are being moved to Aberdeen, about a half hour away.
About 1,000 people live in Ipswich.
