(Dakota Dunes, South Dakota) - Dakota Wesleyan shot rounds of 339 and 327 on Friday and claimed the 2013 Great Plains Athletic News PhotoConference (GPAC) Women's Golf Championship after 72 holes of play for the season.  The Tigers also claimed first for the day at GPAC Women's Golf Qualifiers #3 and #4 in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, at Two Rivers to go along with the overall league title.

The Tigers 72 hole total was 1351 and they won the championship by 71 stokes over second place Northwestern who totaled 1422 over four rounds.  Morningside was third with 1441.

Dakota Wesleyan's Lauren Fitts* is the 2013 GPAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Year and women's medalist after a four round total of 325 (-2).  Her teammate Chelsea Burback was second overall with 333 and Jenna Winckler also from Dakota Wesleyan was third with 338.

The GPAC Championship was Dakota Wesleyan's fifth in a row and the Tigers will now advance to the 2013 NAIA Women's Golf Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The NAIA Championships are slated for May 21-24 at Wilderness Ridge.  Doane College from the GPAC will serve as the host team and also participate in the 2013 NAIA Women's Golf Championships.

The top ten individual finishers in the GPAC Qualifiers (including ties and must have played all 72 holes) are considered GPAC Women's Golf All-Conference for 2012-13.  Five additional honorable mention selections and the GPAC Coach-of-the-Year will be voted on in the coming weeks' and released by the league office.

Another highlight on the day was Nebraska Wesleyan's Kelsey Marshall's hole-in-one on hole #15 at Twin Rivers.  She holed the shot with a seven (7) iron from 165 yards.
