Dozens 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes'

Bookmark and Share

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness month, and all across the country, organizations are helping to protest sexual violence and are looking to educate surrounding communities.

They're doing so by 'walking a mile in her shoes.'

Dozens of women and even men put on their high heels on Saturday morning, for the second annual 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes' event in Sioux Falls.

The event, sponsored by Globe University and the Compass Center, is held in an effort to raise awareness for sexual assault victims. The mile long trek began at Globe university, where the group paraded their way down the sidewalks as best they could, while others held signs with statistics on sexual abuse.

"We hope as we continue to do this that we bring more awareness to the community and we draw more and more people from the local area in,” said Ann Kolbreck, Director of Career Services at Globe University.

All participants made a $10 donation to walk in the event.
