A group of people in the northeastern South Dakota community of Leola is using ribbons to protest the school board's decision to demolish the town's school and build a new one.
The group of more than 20 people spent Sunday putting hundreds of blue and purple ribbons on tree trunks and houses to call attention to their cause.
The protesters say the existing school building is a part of Leola history, and another use could be found for it.
