Mayday, Mayday, Mayday...

By the time you get to May, most feel that we should be done with the falling flakes, the slush, the slippery roads, and the cold conditions, but not this year.  The snow was flying, the roads were sloppy, and the masses were screaming with misery.  In just a few hours’ time, cities across the area shattered May snowfall records.  Much of the southeast experienced their snowiest May in more than 40 years, and in some cases, of all time!  The list of cities on your left recorded their snowiest Mays of all time with records dating back to the 1930’s.  And with the snow still flying in some areas as I write this, there may be more that drop in the coming hours.  The following are snow totals from Monday and liquid totals from Monday through 8pm CDT.  Many snow and temperature records were broken for April, the details on that coming up in the next blog Thursday evening.
