South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard has requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration to help South Dakota recover from the April ice and snow storm.
Douglas, Hutchinson, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, Turner and Shannon counties were listed in the request.
Governor Daugaard said that significant personnel and equipment on the state, tribal, county and local levels have been dedicated to recovering from the storm.
If the President grants the declaration, up to 75% of eligible costs could be reimbursed by the government.
FEMA participated in preliminary damage assessments last week.
