Inmates Indicted For Assault

The two inmates accused of assaulting Corporal Zane Mathis at the State Penitentiary have been indicted on different charges.
28-year old Carlos Rapheal Green of Sioux Falls was indicted on one count of aggravated assault against a department of corrections employee.
24-year-old Garrett Austin Dumarce of Sioux Falls was indicted on one count of aiding, abetting or advising aggravated assault against a department of corrections employee.
Both of the charges are class two felonies that can carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine. However, in conjunction with the Habitual Offender filing, Dumarce faces up to 50 years in prison and Green faces a life sentence.
Green is accused of assaulting Corporal Zane Mathis on April 20th with Dumarce helping him.
Dumarce is serving a 5 year sentence for grand theft in Roberts County and Green is serving a 35 year sentence for aggravated assault, a consecutive 5 year sentence for eluding a police officer and a consecutive sentence for sliming all in Brown County.
