MUNCIE, Ind. – Brooke Garner claimed her second career outdoor hammer throw title on Thursday at The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She won the event with her toss of 195’ 3.00”, which is also a new conference meet record. Her hammer throw title is her second in three years.

Garner was not only the Jackrabbit to finish in the top-ten in the hammer throw; three other throwers joined her as well. Shelby Assmus finished fourth with her distance of 168’ 8.00” and  Amy Paulzine recorded a personal best of 166’ 8.00” to place sixth. Her previous best was 159’ 4.00”, which she set earlier this year at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. McKenzie Johnson rounded out the top-eight with her distance of 161’ 5.00”, just four inches shy of her personal best.

In the javelin throw, the Jackrabbits had two athletes place in the top-ten. Placing third in the event was Amy Paulzine who recorded a distance of 145’ 9.00”. Becca Fischer placed ninth with her new personal best of 111’ 7.00”; her previous mark was 106’ 11.00”.

Both Erin Hargens and Courtney Neubert placed in the top-eight in the 10,000-meter run. Hargens clocked in at 37:42.40 to finish sixth and Neubert finished with a time of 37:42.06 to take eighth.

Amy Leiferman tied her personal best in the pole vault with her mark of 11’ 7.75”.

The Jackrabbits are currently in third place with 29 total points.

The Jackrabbits will back in action on Friday starting at 3 p.m. with the high jump and the running events start at 4:30 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdles.
