BRANDON, S.D. --
If you can hear thunder on a clear night, you know it's racing season at Husets Speedway in Brandon.
And for the season opener tonight Husets played host to a rising NASCAR star.
20 year old phenom Kyle Larson came to Brandon tonight less than 48 hours after finishing sixth at the Nationwide Series race in Darlington.
Last night the Elk Grove, California native was in Knoxville Iowa at the Knoxville Nationals and decided to come up to Brandon because he'd always wanted to race here.
Larson's earning high praise from NASCAR stars Tony Steward and Jeff Gordon as a rising star, but Kyle says he still enjoys getting back to his roots on the dirt tracks.
"Now that I'm running stock cars I don't get to do it quite as much so I try and do it whenever I can. Why I do it, I like coming out here and, you know, getting to see a bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while and the fans are the greatest in dirt racing." Larson says.
