SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --
Tanner Heiser and Jordan Feige lost their state singles championship battles. Their recovery in doubles helped Watertown win the war.
Yesterday's team championship came down to their #1 doubles match against O'Gorman's Tommy Entwistle and Ben Czarnecki.
Whoever won would take home the state title.
Heiser and Feige, who had earlier lost to Entwistle in the #1 singles, put the Arrows over top in two sets 6-4, 6-4. It was Watertown's first boy's tennis title since 1994, and easily washed away any disappointment over not winning a singles title for Heiser and Feige.
"Ah for sure the team (meant more). That's our goal from the beginning of the season is our conference tournament and then we wanted to get State too. And we knew we could do it and we did it." Feige says.
"Coming away with the team title for sure. I mean, we all have to participate. We come together as a team and we just finished as a team." Heiser says.
