The National Park Service has announced more than $3.7 million in historic preservation grants to Native American tribes, including tribes in South Dakota.
National Park Service director Jonathan Jarvis says the grants will help tribes preserve their important cultural sites so that all Americans can gain a better appreciation of their traditions and cultures. The money can be used for education, planning, reports and repair work.
The state's nine tribes are each receiving between $25,000 and $35,000
