Saturday marked the 17th annual Festival of Cultures at Falls Park.
Coordinators of the event said around 30,000 people were expected to come out and learn about the diverse cultures in Sioux Falls. Fifty booths were set up featuring jewelry, food and clothing native to different nations around the world. Coordinators said dozens of countries are represented at the festival by people who live in the community. And all day they were giving those who came out a glimpse of where they are from.
“The fashion shows different garments from different countries. The food booths are very popular of course. Taste something different that we aren't used to here,” said Roxie Kelly, with the Multi-Cultural Center.
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether proclaimed June 15 ‘Multi-Cultural Day,’ in Sioux Falls.
