Greenway Keeps NFL Career In Perspective

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --  Mount Vernon native Chad Greenway hasn't forgotten his roots, and this week only added to his stature in South Dakota.

A day after arthroscopic knee surgery he was in Sioux Falls for the HyVee Legends fundraiser and then out at the football camp helping teach the game to youngsters who hope to follow in his footsteps.

2013 will be Greenway's 8th season with the Minnesota Vikings.  He led the team in tackles last year.

Though he's expected to be ready for training camp next month, even minor surgery makes Chad consider that his career won't go on forever.

"The goal for me is to get to ten which would be incredible.  Incredible gift for me and my family.  And anything after that would be gravy on top.  So you have to think about your post career and how your bodies going to hold up.  How you're going to be able to walk around, play with your kids, and do some things that you enjoy to do.  So, I'm thinking about it, but not ready to be done yet."  Greenway says.
