The Fort Pierre City Council has rejected petitions seeking a public vote on more aspects of a proposed $16 million development on the Missouri River.
Petitioners who think the city is giving preferential treatment to the Riverwalk Landing project say they'll now take their case to court.
The City Council earlier this month accepted referral petitions and scheduled a July 9 election on a boat storage area in the Riverwalk Landing project. They rejected a petition on zoning changes and a deferred development fee, saying those were administrative actions and not subject to a public vote.
The project is to include a marina, restaurant and retail space. Mayor Sam Tidball says it would be the largest development in city history in terms of dollars.
