With more rain this spring compared to last year, lawns are sprouting up nicely throughout South Dakota.
But in most cities if you don't cut your lawn you could face a fine.
So far this year the city of Mitchell has collected nearly $2,000 from residents that have kept their yards too long. Charges can range up to $150.
Most of the fee comes from charging workers to cut the lawns.
City officials say if you do plan to leave your home for a while you should get someone to take care of your yard.
