Governor Dennis Daugaard is seeking a disaster declaration for parts of South Dakota after severe storms and flooding.
The request includes five counties and part of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Daugaard says that damage occurred in Lincoln, Union, Lawrence, Corson, and Bennett counties.
Daugaard says that Lincoln County was hit especially hard by flooding with more than 10 inches of rain in two days. An EF-1 tornado hit the small community of Allen in Bennett County destroying three tribal homes and damaging several others as well as a church.
FEMA participated in preliminary damage assessments earlier this week.
