The Big Sioux River is expected to crest in Brookings on Saturday.
The National Weather Service says the river is expected to crest at 10.6 feet at about 6 a.m. Saturday. A flood warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday for the Big Sioux near Brookings and Bruce.
County Development Director Bob Hill says that Eureka, Oakwood, Sterling, Brookings, Volga and Medary townships all have roads partially under water.
Hill says the road closures are temporary and a yearly occurrence in the areas. He says when Watertown and other areas north of the county get heavy rain, flooding is bound to happen.
Hill says most of the damage is going to be agricultural, as many fields are under water.
