Jacob Adams plays three sports at Brandon Valley, but nothing beats his first love.
"I've always loved baseball since I was little. I've always had a baseball in my hand and it just clicked to me right away when I was younger. Start playing my first little league game and I've loved it ever since." Adams says.
That's a good thing for Brandon Valley. Adams is one of the state's top power hitters, and after batting .350 during his sophomore season, he's on his way to topping those numbers this year.
"He's a guy that steps into the box and everyone's got confidence in him. Everyone knows he can hit the long ball but he can also step in there, lead it off and get us rolling." Pitcher Jacob Bruget says.
"He's a fun kid to watch hit. He's got raw power. You know, baseball is not played as much back here as it is in the warmer places, so you know, the more reps he gets, he's just getting better everyday." Brandon Valley Manager Grant Hieb says.
Better will hopefully include a college scholarship. Adams wants to play division one baseball and hopes to continue to build his impressive resume over the next year and a half.
"I really dont think about it because once you pressure then you're getting tight and it really doesn't help you that much. I just gotta go up there relaxed and get my name out there for them to see me." Adams says.
If Jacob keeps pounding out hits, that won't be a problem.
