Big Boom In Fireworks Sales

Bookmark and Share

Blackjack Fireworks, outside of Brandon, saw a lot of business over the holiday. In fact, General Manager Jesse Hard says out of his four years managing the store in Brandon, this is by far one of the best years he has seen for firework sales.

With staff waving down cars and big inflatables all around, Blackjack Fireworks is not having any trouble getting people in the door this year.

With packed lines looping to the back of the store, General Manager Jesse Hard says sales are bouncing back.

“This year’s firework sales were a lot better than last year. We probably increased three times this year,” said Hard.

He credits his sales to Mother Nature’s good behavior.

“Last year was really bad. With the big fire and the drought it’s a lot more damp this year. People aren’t really concerned about starting fires,” said Hard.

Hard says about 75 percent of his sales are from out-of-state buyers. Some locals like Elise Vanhove enjoy the holiday staple too.

“We already bought some, we just came back for some last minute things,” said customer Elise Vanhove.

Despite the packed lines, customers don’t seem to be complaining.

“It was really busy because I think people were trying to get their last minute things. It’s the atmosphere, it’s great,” said customer Mollie Hoffman.

Hard estimates 60 percent of his sales are from aerial fireworks.
