The chairman of the South Dakota Republican Party helped rescue a woman from a fiery car crash last week in northern Minnesota.
Craig Lawrence said he was driving with his wife Sunday morning on Minnesota Highway 113 near Waubun and northeast of Fargo, N.D., when he saw an oncoming car lose control, flip over and burst into flames.
Lawrence says he thought no one could survive such a crash. But the car's driver, a 19-year-old woman from Bloomington, Minn., was alive and trapped in her seat.
He says adrenaline coursed through him and he was able to tear open a stuck door and help the woman to safety.
A Minnesota Highway Patrol report says the woman was hospitalized with serious injuries that were not life-threatening.
