A Powerball ticket sold in Rapid City is worth $40,000 in the latest drawing.
South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball to win the game's $10,000 third prize in the Saturday drawing. The ticket buyer also had purchased an option for $1 that quadrupled the prize.
The odds of winning Powerball's third prize are 1 in about 649,000. The winner has about six months to claim the money.
Powerball is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot sits at $116 million for the next drawing, on Wednesday.
