Noodles, 2nd Pizza Patrol Open For Business

Bookmark and Share

It was a big day for the restaurant business in Sioux Falls. Two restaurants, one on 57th Street and Louise Avenue and another on 41st Street and Marion Road, opened their doors for the first time Monday.

At 11 o'clock Noodles & Company opened it's doors in Sioux Falls. In just a matter of minutes, a line started forming at the door.

Noodles & Company Operating Partner Ted Horan said, "A lot of pent-up demand for a Noodles & Company in Sioux Falls."

Not surprising, considering the franchise announced it was coming to South Dakota's largest city two years ago. But Horan says they needed to find the right spot first and at 57th Street and Louise Avenue, they think they've done that.

Horan said, "We're talking about the second busiest intersection in South Dakota right out here so we know it's very busy. We know there's a high traffic count. We also like the building, it's a very visible building."

But the franchise, famous for it's noodle dishes, isn't the only restaurant in town opening it's doors. On Monday, Jim Fischer also opened up shop to his second Pizza Patrol in town.

Fischer said, "I was looking for a local supplier and Pizza Patrol seemed like an obvious brand to bring back into Sioux Falls."

Like Noodles & Company, it was all about location. It just so happens Fischer found one, at 41st Street and Marion Road and it just so happens it landed close to a Little Caesars Pizza, with a similar 'grab and go' concept.

Fischer said, "This is a good intersection. Kind of a key intersection on the West side of Sioux Falls.">

Also, joining the more than 600 hundred restaurants in the city, will be a Five Guys Burgers and Fries on the corner of 10th Street and Minnesota Avenue. Their sign went up in June and they are expected to open mid August.

Panera Bread will be putting their second store on the list. The building is already being constructed in front of the east side Walmart on Arrowhead Parkway. With the low cost of doing business, a booming economy, and steady in population growth, city business leaders only expect the number of restaurants, vying for a place in the community, to grow.

President of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation Slater Barr said, "There's always a lot of churn in the restaurant sector, and certain concepts will work well in communities and others won't, but there's always someone to replace them it seems like."

There will be a new strip mall on West 41st Street on the campus of the Empire Mall, the former site of the Sinclair Gas Station. Panda Express will join Mattress Firm and the Vitamin Shoppe at that location.

The strip mall on west 41st Street is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
