A jury has awarded former Black Hills Speedway promoter Shane Liebig $414,000 in his dispute with speedway owner Ed Kirchoff of Gillette, Wyo.
Officials report the jury decided that Kirchoff had deceived Liebig into believing he would someday own the dirt racetrack near Rapid City.
However, the jury also decided that Liebig owes Kirchoff $36,000 for leasing the speedway in 2011.
Liebig testified that Kirchoff agreed to bankroll his purchase of the speedway when it sold at auction in 2010. He said the terms of the oral agreement required him to repay Kirchoff the $350,000 purchase price in five years.
However, the two men's relationship fell apart, and Kirchoff locked Liebig out of the speedway last year.
