Twins Hope Rally Signals Changing Luck

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --  After a dismal 39-53 first half, the Minnesota Twins are hoping their comeback 3-2 -- win against Cleveland in their first game after the All Star break is a sign of better things to come in the second half.

Good pitching, timely hitting and great defense, things which have often been lacking for Minnesota this year, were all on display.  Both run scoring hits by Trevor Plouffe and Joe Mauer came with two outs.

"To be able to come back and get a win in the first night, it's a good start to the second half.  Hopefully we can carry this momentum."  Twins Catcher Joe Mauer says.

"Hasn't gone our way so far, but we're not going to change the way we work.  We've been working hard all year.  We'll continue to do that and, you know, baseball is a funny game.  Just when you think you're out of it you can, you know, run off some wins and get right back in it."  Twins 3rd Baseman Trevor Plouffe says.

"We've been getting taken advantage of plenty of times, and we know how much mistakes and walks hurt you.  And we actually got a little lucky today because we walked a few too many guys and they didn't score.  And that's probably because our defense made some plays."  Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire says.
