MANKATO MADNESS: Vikings Open Training Camp

Bookmark and Share

MANKATO, MN --  The Minnesota Vikings began the 2013 season on Friday afternoon by kicking off Training Camp.  The players took part in two practices today, one this morning was just a walk through, and this afternoon they put the helmets on and ramped it up just a little bit.

We talked with several players and they are ready for this season, hoping to build off last year's surprise playoff run, and they're just ready to get things going.

"Now I think it's just understanding a little bit more and a little bit further of situations.  You know, what the coaches think of certain situations, how can I help guys be prepared when a situation comes up, and things like that.  Just become more of a leader now that you're a little more comfortable within the system."  Viking LB Chad Greenway says.

"It's all about hard work, you know, because you can, whatever you do, you got options to go through the motions, barely go through it, or you can really put the work in and feel like you accomplished something.  So that was my mindset, just whatever I was doing as far as a workout, making sure that I felt like I won."  Vikings RB Adrian Peterson says.

"So it's getting back in your stance, getting off your start, you know, really starting to key the ball, you know, because it's going to take your body some time to get reacting, you know, to the snap of the ball to game speed.  You know, really starting recognizing your block progressions and stuff like that."  Vikings DE Jared Allen says.

"I think for all of our players, all of our coaches, the most important thing we can do is be in this moment and play as hard as we can together for now, and take care of what we can control, and that's playing as hard as we can now.  And we'll see what happens down the road."  Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier says.

The Vikings have two more practices tomorrow, a walk through in the morning and then they put the helmets back on in the afternoon.

They're excited to be out here, and they are excited to build on last year's successful season, and are hoping for bigger and better things this year.
