Thielbar Rooting For Ex-Teammates In Minors

Bookmark and Share

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --  Caleb Thielbar is the first former SDSU Jackrabbit to make it to the Major Leagues.  It's possible he could soon have company from several former college teammates.

Blake Treinen is currently 6-7 with a 3.72 ERA for the Double-A Harrisburg Senators in the Washington Nationals farm system.  Yankton native Layne Somsen is 2-0 out of the bullpen with a 1.50 ERA for the Billings Mustangs of the Rookie Ball Class-A Pioneer League in the Cincinnati Reds system.

Another former SDSU pitcher, Stephen Bougher, is trying to take Thielbar's path to the big leagues through the American Association.  Bougher is 2-4 with a 3.05 ERA for the Lincoln Saltdogs.

As the three try to make their push to the big leagues, they've got a big fan in Thielbar.

(*CORRECTION-In the video we said Treinen was in the Oakland A's farm system.  Harrisburg is a part of the Washington Nationals organization.)
