Hundreds Gather At Canton Area Car Show

Bookmark and Share

If you happened to hear the rumbling of cars heading into Canton Sunday, it was all for the Canton Area Car Show. Around 250 cars were on display. It was a variety of everything from race cars, late models and even Classics.

Clay Seachris is no stranger to the Canton Area Car Show. He has attended the popular event in town almost every year from 20 years. But the car he brought with him Sunday hasn’t been on the highway with him all those years.

The 1956 Chevy 210, what he calls his ‘cruiser,’ is something he bought just two years ago.

"We put miles on this one. We had to wipe bugs off constantly," said Clay Seachris.

It's not just the cars that bring him here each year. It's for the people he meets and friends he sees year after year.

"You can't beat this. Being with your friends on a sunday afternoon. The cars and the friendship, so much fun, “said Seachris.

Across the road is Chuck Trites. This is his first car show he's been at all summer. To Trites, it's all about the atmosphere.

"Lots of cars, looking for lots of ideas for our other car that we are rebuilding so we wanted to see them," said Chuck Trites.

His 1969 Camaro was something he bought 13 years ago, with his wife.

"My wife and I gave it to each other for our anniversary. Mostly my idea but she went along with it," said Trites.

Others come to the car show for a different reason, to help out the community.
All of the proceeds from the event will go to several organizations within the town.

"Proceeds go to Canton After Prom, Canton FFA and Love Ink," said coordinator T.J. McVay.

The Lincoln County Cruisers organized the car show. They say out of the estimated 3,000 that showed up. They hope to raise over $10,000 to give back to the community.
