Bruget Giving Opponents The Hook

Bookmark and Share

If you see Jacob Bruget's curve, chances are you're getting the hook.

"Well I mean, the curveball, that's one that, try to get guys behind in the count and throw that in there, see if you can't get them back to the dugout."  Bruges says.

The lanky Brandon Valley righty may be best known for his Uncle Charlie, but he's shown a lot more at the plate and on the mound this season.

"He's long, gets on top of hitters. His  curveball and other pitches have gotten better as the weather has gotten better.  You know, in the cold spring here he got away with just having basically one, two pitches.  Now he's starting to use his other pitches and he's been really dealing for us."  Brandon Valley Manager Grant Hieb says.

"He's a dominant pitcher on the mound.  He's always up there throwing strikes when we need them, gets ground balls.  He throws pretty hard."  Brandon Valley Infielder Jacob Adams says.

And it's helped him get a ticket to the next level, a scholarship to pitch at North Dakota State.

"Lot of opportunity and room to grow.  Not very many pitchers next year so, like I said, that gives me a lot of opportunity to go in there and maybe get some innings right away."  Bruget says,

Before he heads north of the border, Jacob's got one last bit of business in South Dakota at the state tournament.

"Just stay calm and comfortabl and throw like I can."  Bruget says.

Where he'll hope to hook a state championship.
