Anticipation is building as Minneapolis prepares to marry the first same-sex couples when Minnesota's new gay marriage law takes effect.
The marble-walled rotunda at City Hall is buzzing with activity. Mayor R.T. Rybak will begin marrying 42 couples just after midnight Wednesday.
The Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus is rehearsing its performance. The male singers are all dressed in black T-shirts with the words "Marry Us."
Large bouquets of white roses adorn the pedestals.
At the center is the imposing Father of Waters statue.
About 250 white folding chairs are set up for the couples and their guests.
