Sioux Falls, S.D. (Aug. 14, 2013) – The Miami HEAT announced today that Pat Delany has been named head coach of the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He becomes the 16th head coach in franchise history after spending the past 11 seasons in various roles within the HEAT organization.

Delany, who served as a full-time advance scout the past six seasons, was an assistant coach for the HEAT’s summer league entries in Orlando and Las Vegas in July. Delany also served as the HEAT’s video coordinator for four seasons (2003-07) following one season as a video intern.

Prior to joining the HEAT, Delany was a video department intern for the Boston Celtics from January to May of 2002. Throughout the summer months of 1998 through 2002, he served as a basketball camp counselor at the University of North Carolina, University of Notre Dame, Saint Anselm College and Christian Brothers Academy.

Delany is a graduate and former Division II basketball standout at Saint Anselm College where he graduated with a degree in business administration. He finished his basketball career as the school’s career leader with 731 assists.

Delany will be introduced to media and fans at a press conference on Monday, Aug. 19 at the Sanford Fieldhouse (2215 W. Pentagon Pl.) at 2 p.m. Additional representatives from the HEAT organization will be in attendance to discuss more details regarding the hybrid partnership.

Season tickets for the 2013-14 season are on sale. The Skyforce will play home games at the brand-new Sanford Pentagon (sanfordpentagon.com) following 24 seasons at the Sioux Falls Arena.
