Pierre Survives, Renner Punches Title Ticket

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --  After Rapid City's forfeit on Thursday night the Class A portion of the State Amateur Tournament began in at the Birdcage in Sioux Falls on Friday afternoon.

Pierre defeated Vermillion in an elimination game 3-1.  Pierre will face the Sioux Falls Saints at 11 AM in another elimination game.

Renner, meanwhile, scored five in the 9th to pull away from the Sioux Falls Brewers 9-4.  By virtue of being the only unbeaten team in the tournament, Renner has clinched it's spot in the state championship game on Sunday at noon.  The Brewers will face the winner of the Saints/Pierre game on Saturday at 5:30 PM for the right to face Renner in the championship game on Sunday.
