The Douglas School District is receiving a $4 million grant to help build a new Box Elder elementary school.
The district has about 450 students enrolled in elementary school, and the new school will replace the 1952 building currently used by the district.
Sen. Tim Johnson says the U.S. Department of Education grant money comes from the Impact Aid School Construction program.
The program's grants go to local school districts that educate high percentages of certain "federally connected children," which include children living on Native American lands and children of members of the uniformed services.
Box Elder is home to many Air Force members who serve at nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base.
